About SD Lawn Care – Lock Haven, PA

At SD Lawn Care, we’re passionate about keeping yards healthy, neat, and beautiful. Since our launch in April 2023, we’ve grown from a small summer project into a trusted lawn care provider in Lock Haven and the surrounding areas.

From a few lawns and a borrowed setup to a growing outdoor property service company.

SD Lawn Care was officially started in April 2023 by Dakoda Packer and Steven, with a very simple setup. We used Steven’s family’s Kubota tractor and an old trailer belonging to his grandfather, who drove us from property to property because neither of us could drive yet. We started with just a few lawns each week, including our first customer, Steven’s neighbor.

The following year, Dakoda continued growing the business with his friend Kyle. We had grown to around eight weekly lawns while expanding beyond mowing into mulching, patios, landscaping, and other outdoor projects. We used a Husqvarna zero-turn mower from Kyle’s uncle’s former business, and Kyle’s grandfather helped get us where we needed to go.

In 2025, Dakoda and Steven reunited to continue growing SD Lawn Care. We reached around 12 weekly lawns, began working three to four days a week, took on more landscaping and property work, purchased a commercial Bobcat 48” walk-behind mower, and invested in our own trailer.

Growing Into a Full-Service Company

In 2026, things took another major step forward. Dakoda earned his driver’s license, purchased a Chevrolet Silverado 1500, upgraded to a Wright Stander B commercial stand-on mower, and continued growing the business.

By late June, SD Lawn Care began combining operations with Hepler’s Lawn Care LLC, owned and operated by Sammy. Together, our operations now maintain approximately 100 lawns every week while working five to six days a week and taking on a growing number of landscaping, hardscaping, tree service, and other property projects.

Today, SD Lawn Care has a growing team of full-time and part-time employees and a fleet of commercial-grade equipment, including multiple Wright and Bobcat commercial mowers, dump trailers, trucks, and other equipment needed to serve both residential and commercial properties.

Where We’re Going

SD Lawn Care is currently owned and operated separately from Hepler’s Lawn Care LLC. Sammy currently owns and operates Hepler’s Lawn Care, while Dakoda owns and operates SD Lawn Care. As we continue combining our operations, our goal is to fully merge under the SD Lawn Care name in 2027, with Dakoda and Sammy becoming co-owners and Dakoda leading the day-to-day operation.

Our goal is to continue building SD Lawn Care into a large, professional outdoor property service company serving Central Pennsylvania. We hope to eventually operate multiple mowing and landscaping crews, maintain around 200 weekly properties, and expand our service area throughout Central Pennsylvania, from the State College area to Williamsport and beyond.

While we’ve grown significantly since 2023, our goal remains simple: provide reliable service, communicate with our customers, do high-quality work, and take pride in every property we work on.
